Temporary Packaging Deviations: Give Every Exception an End

A temporary packaging deviation needs a defined limit.

Bound the exception

A temporary packaging deviation needs a defined limit. A brand may consider using a lot with a minor agreed difference while the next run is corrected. Kaida’s support channel provides a route for discussing the issue, but the buyer’s responsible teams must decide whether the proposed use is acceptable. The decision should name the affected lot, feature and intended destination.

Describe the actual difference

Compare the affected pack with the current approved specification. Record the observation, sample photographs, quantity and reason for the request. Separate the supplier’s proposed disposition from the buyer’s acceptance. Any issue involving product suitability or required information must reach the qualified owner who can evaluate it; a purchasing deadline cannot supply that technical decision.

Limit quantity and duration

If the exception is accepted, state the authorized lot, quantity, product, market and last permitted use date or order. Identify any extra inspection or handling needed. Mark affected stock so an operator can recognize the exception without searching an email archive. A broad phrase such as approved for now gives later shifts no reliable boundary.

Close it before the repeat order

Assign an owner to check the next corrected sample and retire the temporary instruction. Record how unused affected stock will be handled. If the issue persists, open a new review with fresh evidence rather than silently extending the old exception. Keep the permanent specification unchanged unless a separately approved revision is intended.

Keep both decisions visible

Retain the deviation record beside the standard specification and reference sample. Ask Kaida to identify the correction in the next order handoff. This helps the buyer distinguish a controlled one-lot decision from a permanent change that every future delivery may use.
