Snack Assortment Cartons: Keep SKU Identity Clear through Packing
Use an SKU matrix and a case-opening trial to check mixed snack assortments before a promotion runs.
Promotional snack cartons can contain several flavors, pack sizes or artwork versions at once. Kaida Group lists confectionery and snack packaging as an application. For a mixed assortment, the packaging question extends beyond one pouch: how will the line confirm that the right individual units reach the right outer carton?
Build an assortment matrix
List every SKU planned for the promotion, its pouch artwork code, product name, net weight and required carton count. Add an image of the front and back of each approved pack. If several variants look similar, define the feature that operators and inspectors should use to distinguish them.
Write down whether the mixed case is assembled on the same line as individual pouches or at a later packing station. Identify where a pouch can enter the wrong stream, especially during artwork or flavor changeovers. The matrix should name the current approved version for every component.
Trial the packing sequence
Run a small representative batch using the intended case, dividers and packing order. Watch how operators pick and count the individual units. Check whether the product names and codes remain visible when pouches lie in the carton. If labels are hidden, decide what external case marking will support a reliable final check.
Include a deliberate changeover in the trial. Remove the previous SKU's film, preformed bags and printed cartons from the work area, then document the checks before the next run starts. Keep rejected and approved samples clearly separated so the assortment count is meaningful.
Record evidence at the case level
Choose a sample of sealed cases, reopen them and compare their contents with the planned matrix. Record any mix-up by SKU, artwork version and station. Confirm that the finished case label matches the products inside, and retain the count sheet with the batch record.
Send Kaida the approved pouch versions, assortment matrix and case plan. The project can then address both individual snack packs and the identity checks needed when those packs become a multi-SKU retail unit.
