PCR Pouch Artwork: Decide How Color Variation Is Judged
When a packaging project considers PCR material, brand teams may see color variation that matters differently across designs.
When a packaging project considers PCR material, brand teams may see color variation that matters differently across designs. Kaida lists PCR packaging as a category. The buyer should define how appearance will be evaluated on the printed, converted pouch, rather than relying on an isolated resin or unprinted film sample.
Define the inputs
Choose the intended product, pack format and artwork before judging samples. Identify large light areas, transparent panels and color-critical brand elements. Request labelled examples of the proposed construction and material lot. If an unprinted reference is used for technical review, keep it separate from the visual acceptance sample that consumers will actually see.
Test the proposed pack
Compare production-like packs under consistent lighting, both empty and filled. Photograph the same panel position and record material lot and print version. Ask reviewers to identify what variation is acceptable and what interferes with product recognition. Do not turn one attractive hand-selected pouch into an undefined promise for all later lots.
Resolve the design question
Discuss the visual result alongside the material documentation and functional trial. A color change may be a design issue; a different source or layer specification can also require technical review. When proposing an artwork adjustment, show how it behaves over the expected appearance range rather than masking only the sample on the table.
Release the decision
Release a visual reference set and the written acceptance method with the approved construction. A later lot can then be compared against a known standard, and the brand can distinguish an expected material appearance from a genuine print or process defect.
Give brand reviewers a pair of acceptable and unacceptable examples with lot identifiers. Examples make the written appearance rule much easier to apply at receiving.
