Package Weight Comparisons: Use the Same Delivered Product Basis

A lighter empty pouch and a heavier pack are not automatically equivalent ways to deliver a product.

Define what is being compared

A lighter empty pouch and a heavier pack are not automatically equivalent ways to deliver a product. When discussing packaging options with Kaida, define the unit of comparison before reporting a weight difference. State the product quantity delivered and the package components included so the calculation answers a clear purchasing question.

Count the full selected assembly

List the pouch body, closure, fitment, label and any other components included in the comparison. Explain whether secondary packaging is inside or outside its scope. Weigh representative samples using the buyer’s agreed method and retain individual readings rather than reporting an unexplained single figure. If the pack sizes differ, normalize the arithmetic to the same product quantity while keeping the original measurements visible.

Keep suitability evidence alongside weight

Record the filling, handling and use requirements each option still has to meet. A mass reduction does not by itself demonstrate equivalent package performance, lower environmental impact or recyclability in the destination market. Kaida’s recyclable packaging information is a starting point for discussing a proposed construction; the complete pack and the relevant collection route still need review. Keep those questions separate from the measured weight calculation.

Report a bounded result

Present the component list, sample basis and arithmetic with the comparison. Describe unresolved tests and avoid converting a material-weight percentage into a carbon or waste claim without separate supporting evidence. Send Kaida the agreed scope when requesting an alternative structure. The buyer can then discuss a concrete reduction opportunity while preserving a clear distinction between what was weighed and what remains to be demonstrated in the intended application.
