Packaging Deliveries: Reconcile Rolls, Weight and Usable Units

Roll-film orders can be discussed in rolls, weight, length or expected finished packs.

Define the purchasing unit

Roll-film orders can be discussed in rolls, weight, length or expected finished packs. Those quantities answer different questions. For a Kaida roll-film purchase, agree the unit used for the order and invoice, then record how the receiving team will reconcile the delivery. A count of rolls alone says little when roll sizes differ or the buyer plans production by finished-unit demand.

Specify the conversion inputs

Identify which supplied measurements support any conversion between purchasing and planning units. Ask whether stated weight includes cores or other packaging and how usable web length is established. Keep the approved print repeat and pack layout with the calculation. Do not assume a theoretical number of finished packs will equal output after startup, splices and ordinary process losses.

Check the received shipment

Reconcile roll IDs, labels and packing-list quantities at arrival. Investigate missing or unreadable identifiers before issuing material to production. If a measurement differs, record the method and instrument used by receiving. A weight discrepancy measured on different bases should be clarified before it is treated as a shortage of usable film.

Track actual conversion separately

During the run, log material issued, returned, scrapped and converted to acceptable packs. Explain the main loss categories without blending them into the supplier-delivery count. This distinguishes a receiving discrepancy from a process-yield question and gives both supplier and filler useful evidence for a review.

Use a repeatable reconciliation

Share the agreed quantity basis and a sample receiving record with Kaida. Carry the same fields into future purchase orders. The buyer can then compare deliveries consistently and plan a repeat run from actual material use, while retaining the original commercial unit as the basis for the order.
