New Packaging Artwork: Plan the Old-Stock Cutover

A revised pouch design can be approved while old printed stock still exists at the supplier, warehouse and filler.

Set the change boundary

A revised pouch design can be approved while old printed stock still exists at the supplier, warehouse and filler. Plan that transition before placing the replacement order. Kaida’s support team can discuss the production handoff; the buyer should bring an inventory view and a clear rule for the last permitted use of the old artwork. A new PDF alone does not retire physical stock.

Count every location

List finished empty packs, printed rolls, work in progress and goods already packed under the old design. Give each location an owner and an as-of date. Separate material that can still be used from stock affected by a required copy or product change. Ask the brand’s responsible team to decide the disposition rather than assuming all older print may run until exhausted.

Choose a traceable cutover

Define the first order or production batch that must use the new version. Allocate old and new inventory against that boundary and explain how partial bundles will be handled. Give each version a distinct code visible on the warehouse record. If some markets change earlier than others, create explicit destination rules that the filler can apply without interpreting a design email.

Verify the first new run

Before startup, reconcile the film or pouch code, artwork revision and carton label. Retain the first checked new unit and record the last old-version batch. Ask the operator to clear residual printed materials from the changeover area. A visual comparison at the line is especially useful when the revision changes only a small amount of text.

Close the old version

Record final consumption, approved disposal or return of remaining old stock. Send Kaida the effective revision and any outstanding inventory decision. The next reorder then starts from a clear production version, while the records explain which earlier goods legitimately carry the previous design.
