Multi-Lane Filling Trials: Keep Seal Results by Lane

Preserve the position of each sample

A multi-lane filler can produce several packs at once, making a mixed bag of trial samples difficult to interpret. When developing a Kaida roll-film pack, ask the filler to retain lane identity during sampling. A result recorded only as a production average can hide a problem that repeatedly appears in one physical position on the machine.

Draw a simple lane map

Number lanes from a clearly stated operator viewpoint and show the web direction. Record the film lot, machine setup and sample time. Agree which positions will be sampled at startup, stable running and after adjustment. If the machine configuration changes, revise the map so lane three in one trial does not become a different physical location in the next.

Label before mixing

Place samples in identified groups as they leave the line. Keep cut position, seal observations and any relevant measurements attached to lane and time. Retain both affected and apparently acceptable neighboring units. This allows the technical team to compare a local pattern with a web-wide pattern without trying to reconstruct origin from the finished pack’s appearance.

Investigate one pattern at a time

If one lane differs, have the filler and supplier review local machine conditions and the material observations together. Record adjustments and repeat samples from the same positions. Avoid changing film, settings and sampling method simultaneously unless the investigation plan explains how the effects will be separated. The goal is a repeatable result across the intended operating arrangement.

Keep the lane evidence in approval

Provide Kaida the lane map, settings tested and resulting sample decisions. The release record should describe the configuration that passed the buyer’s criteria. On a later repeat run, operators can use the same map to spot whether a known position has changed.
