Frozen-Food Three-Side-Seal Bags: Keep Product out of the Seal
Use real product and line trials to check the fill zone, closing edge and seal inspection routine.
Kaida Group lists a three-side-seal bag for frozen food. In this format, the line generally fills through the remaining open edge before closing it. A buyer can make the first trial more useful by concentrating on what happens near that edge when the real product is dosed.
Watch the fill zone
Give the packaging team the largest and smallest product pieces, target portion weight and the condition of the product at filling. Include any liquid, seasoning or loose fragments that could reach the open edge. Film width and fill depth should leave a clear working area for the final seal while still giving the product enough room.
Run a short trial on the intended filler. Observe the bag opening, dosing speed and how the product settles before the seal jaws close. Photograph any pieces trapped near the top edge. If product reaches the closing area, record when it happened and adjust the fill setup or bag geometry before judging the material.
Define the closing check
Collect sample bags at start-up, steady running and after a changeover. Mark the position of the final seal on each sample. Check for wrinkles, skew, product residue and uneven edges. Use the quality team's agreed seal method and acceptance criteria on packs made with the real product.
If vacuum is part of the actual process, include its settings and sequence in the trial record. If it is not, assess the closing operation that will really be used. Compare samples from the line with any hand-made mock-up so that approval rests on production-like evidence.
Make the inspection repeatable
Write a one-page setup sheet: bag dimensions, target fill, product condition, seal area, machine settings and sample frequency. Keep photographs of acceptable and unacceptable edges next to the record. A later operator should be able to recognize the same closing problem without relying on a verbal description.
Send Kaida the representative contents, bag drawing, intended equipment and trial observations. The supplier can discuss film and seal options against the actual closing behavior of a three-side-seal frozen-food bag.
