Filled Pouches on Checkweighers: Record the Transfer between Belts
A filled stand-up pouch may look stable on a table and still need attention as it moves between conveyors.
Watch the journey onto the scale
A filled stand-up pouch may look stable on a table and still need attention as it moves between conveyors. For a Kaida pouch project, include the real inspection route in the line trial. The useful observation is what the pack does as it approaches, crosses and leaves the weighing section under the filler’s normal operating arrangement.
Describe the line and the pack
Record the filled product, fill quantity, pouch version and the way packs enter the belt. Ask the equipment owner to document the transfer arrangement and relevant operating settings. Include pack spacing, orientation and any guides used. Keep those inputs attached to the trial rather than treating a photograph of one upright pouch as evidence for the entire range. Different product distributions or partially settled contents may produce a different presentation.
Separate handling from weighing
Observe leaning, rotation, contact with adjacent packs and interruptions at each transfer. Ask the responsible machine team to evaluate weighing performance using its established procedure. Keep handling observations and measurement results as separate records that can be compared by time and pack identity. Do not infer a film defect from an unexplained reject, or adjust a machine simply to make a packaging sample pass without documenting the change.
Retain a repeatable line recipe
After a controlled adjustment, run the same pack configuration again and note what improved or remained unresolved. Preserve representative acceptable and affected samples with photographs of their position. Give Kaida the package-related observations when discussing a construction or shape revision. The approval should identify the pack and line arrangement actually checked, allowing production to recognize when a new fill, conveyor setup or pouch version requires another review.
