Compare Packaging Quotes with One Controlled Specification

Two pouch quotations are comparable only when the suppliers are pricing the same job.

Two pouch quotations are comparable only when the suppliers are pricing the same job. Kaida's support page describes business and technical assistance. A buyer should issue one controlled brief with product, format, material direction, artwork, trial and delivery assumptions, then ask each respondent to identify departures. A low price against a different scope is not a usable comparison.

Define the inputs

Define the packed product and intended use first. Include dimensions, fill, closure, print version, carton expectation and any test evidence the buyer requires. Mark what is mandatory and what is open to supplier alternatives. Give every supplier the same revision and a deadline for questions. If an answer changes the brief, issue a new version to all participants.

Test the proposed pack

Ask responses to separate material construction, conversion, printing, tooling or samples, and any proposed trial work. Request the exact exclusions or assumptions. A supplier may suggest a different film or format that is useful, but it should be visible as an alternative rather than hidden within the base price. Keep the proposed pack sample tied to its quoted specification.

Resolve the design question

Review technical fit before making a final commercial comparison. Have production and quality teams check whether each option can be filled and accepted under the intended process. Record open questions and the evidence needed to resolve them. A spreadsheet of prices cannot substitute for an approval route when the constructions differ.

Release the decision

Choose a versioned specification for the purchase order and retain the accepted sample and deviations. When the order is repeated, the buyer can tell whether a price change reflects the same package or a changed scope.

Record the commercial validity date separately from the technical approval. A quote can expire while its sample remains the approved physical reference.
