A reclosable spout pouch needs a clear first-opening experience. Kaida lists spout pouches as a format. The buyer should decide how a user can tell the pack is unopened, how the first action feels, and what remains on the cap or fitment afterward. That question belongs in the brief before a cap is chosen from a catalog image.

## Define the inputs

Describe the packed product, closure sequence and intended user. Ask the supplier to identify the cap and fitment components, how they are applied and how the proposed first-opening feature is checked. Mark the opening instruction and required information on the actual pouch artwork. The right approach depends on the product and market, so the design owner must define the acceptance method.

## Test the proposed pack

Prepare filled trial packs with traceable cap and pouch versions. Ask users to open them without coaching, then note what they saw or felt before, during and after opening. Test after the planned carton and transport route as well. A feature that is obvious on a new sample may be less clear after handling or when a cap is wet with product.

## Resolve the design question

Include the filling team in the review. Observe cap application, alignment and any discarded feature on the line. Separate an operator setup problem from a design change. If the cap supplier proposes a substitute, compare its first-opening behavior and fitment interaction on the same pouch rather than relying on a shared nominal neck size.

## Release the decision

Approve a filled physical reference, component versions and a check for first opening. Keep the artwork instruction with the same release record. Procurement can then review later cap changes against a known user experience and line process.

Ask the consumer team to retain an unopened and opened reference. Both states matter when investigating a later question about closure application or tamper appearance.
